Pearl & Indy

Nine days after Indy was born, we welcomed her cousin Pearl (my sister's baby)!
Since they were so close, of course we had to throw them in a hospital bassinet together with coordinating blankets.
I can already see these two being best friends!
My cousin and I are 12 days apart and I loved growing up with her by my side.
We were meant to be best friends.

Abby always gave me crap about Ashley being my best friend when we were younger...she even made me cry a few times.
hah... abby was horrible when we lived together...
she would tell you that herself!
What are sisters for though?! am I right!?
I think she feels differently about the whole cousin best friend thing at this point in life.
She's soooo much nicer now :)

It was so fun to get to experience pregnancy with my sister.
I honestly didn't think we would ever get that opportunity due to the space we had planned to have between each of our kids.
I found out that I was pregnant in early October 2017, and I thought there was no way it would be positive when Abby took a pregnancy test right around the same time.
What were the chances?!
To our surprise, Pearl was on her way!

At the end of October we announced our pregnancies to our parents with two Cinnabons in their oven.
It was my dad's birthday and we told him that his birthday present was in their oven.
bun in the oven...get it? :)
That was the same way Abby and Blake has announced their pregnancy with Gretzky just one year before.

So fun!

Indy came a bit early on June 6th 2018, and just 9 days later, Pearl came on Indy's original due date!

These pictures make me so happy!
I'm so glad I was feeling well enough to visit and take some cute pictures of our sweet girls as well as Blake and Abby's family.
Fresh 48 type of sessions are quickly becoming my favorite.
Posed newborn sessions are nice, but these...these are real.
The wrinkly/peeling baby feet.
The matted down hair.
The belly button stumps.
This is where it's at.
Those first few days are such a blur.
You are figuring your baby out, running on very little sleep, and welcoming friends and family who are excited to meet your new bundle.
It's a lot, but it is sooo special!
Those are the moments that I long to experience over and over.
Maybe not the no sleep part... but you get the point :)
While we only get to experience those first moments once with each of our babies, pictures like these can help keep those precious memories alive.

Take me back...

Not only did we get to experience pregnancy together, we also got to share the same doctor. This guy is great! We have nothing but good things to say about him. We love Dr. Harb!
